A chuckwagon at a ranch roundup rodeo, displays two American flags, one old, draped over the driver's seat, with a dusty guitar also seen. A chuck wagon cook off competition also includes staging the primitive transportation vehicle to appear as authentic as possible for judging. This particular event, the annual Red River Ranch Roundup, held at the Claud Gill Arena, Sept. 23-24, 2022, had 19 ranches competing this year. It included several ranch competitions such as branding, trailer loading, cattle doctoring, cowhide race, wild cow milking and more. The Claud Gill Arena is on the historic Chisholm Trail.
A chuckwagon (or chuck wagon carried food and cooking equipment, and was part of a larger wagon train for settlers in the 1800s.
