A young herd of Longhorns moves north on the historic Chisholm Trail near Duncan, Oklahoma, in 2007. This was a statewide event, celebrating the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive; and lasted four weeks, from the Red River in southern Oklahoma, Highway 81, all the way to Kansas. All ages of cowboys, including cowgirls, participated in this amazing event. It was also quite a logistical feat, since the Chisholm Trail had gained structures, highways, and more since the 1880s.
This image only represents a small slice of the activity on one day, and I have an entire gallery collection here to view. That cowboy sure catches our attention with his crisp white shirt, red bandana and black cowboy hat.
People lined up alongside the roads and highways to watch this event. Many traveled daily just to photograph and see history happen.

While it took me most of my life to appreciate these things, reflection...

Toni, I love this image- the cowboy, rope in hand, donning his bright red bandanna, the longhorns heading along in basic order- a classic image- LF
