Description
An old barn serves as backdrop and companion for an old fire truck in rural Oklahoma. I believe this might have been a Medicine Park Fire Department truck. Medicine Park is just down the road and a popular national tourist attraction as it also is backed up against the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Do you see the vintage vertical traffic light at the peak of the barn?
Location of this scene was in Elgin, Oklahoma, which continues to grow. Around 1990, there was less than 1,000 people spread out among this very rural community, nothing more than a drive through don't blink. Now it is pushing 4,000 and has a competitive school, dominating in many athletic programs.

Jonathan Morrow: "So many good ones to pick from Toni! I just love your captures in general, but this one is special for the use of color and composition. It also tells an untold story of a time past that tugs at me. There is also strong evidence in your Old Trucks collection that you are a master in image post-production." *February 16, 2022

Love old barns and this is great
Toni Hopper replied:
Thank you Kevin! I may have to take a drive back there to see what it looks like now. The little town has just boomed in building and population being only a short drive down the interstate from Ft. Sill.

This is really beautiful and wonderful, Toni!!! Fantastic detail and mood!!! :)))f
Toni Hopper replied:
Thank you Laurie! Not long ago, I drove over to that area (it's an hour away) but you can't hardly see the barn, and the truck wasn't there. The little community isn't so rural and little these days.

I want to thank those of you who voted for this image of mine in the recent Barns of the South contest sponsored by Showcasing the South group and Kathi Isserman. I logged on and forgot I had entered it, but it garnered six votes and a tie for sixth place. I'll take it! Hah! Again, thank you everyone who supports my photography, whether it is through comments, likes, favorites, sharing or purchasing. It is so much appreciated, especially right now as I write this in November 2020. What a crazy year it is.
