This home sat vacant for many years before a dedicated couple purchased it and painstakingly restored it to its original glory. It is the only Queen Anne Victorian home in Duncan, Oklahoma.

In 2010, when they began the restoration, the project became a local tourist attraction as residents would drive by to see the home come back to life. It had sat vacant for so long that it was covered by bushes and trees and ivy overgrowth.
I wrote the original feature story that was published in the local newspaper and was fascinated by the work the couple had chosen to undertake.
Since then, across America, a revival has spurred such an interest in old homes and fixer uppers there are even shows on television. Our fascination with this effort highlights the best of American entrepreneurship.
An entire industry is booming.
On this particular home, the couple even scraped the old lead paint off the porch roof ceiling and paid accurate attention to such details as colors and salvaging many items. This is the first time I've been able to capture the beauty of autumn and this home. The home has a wrap-around porch, is made of red cedar and the color is a earthy Wild West green (according to the homeowner). It sits in the historic district of Duncan. They removed brick columns not original to the home and restored it with wood columns. They salvaged wallpaper, possibly to frame.
The home dates to the turn of the 20th Century, but had been vacant for a decade before the couple purchased it in 2009.
