Artist's Description

A gingerbread cookie discovers he has his own story in this antique child's storybook. The book has many torn pages and aged yellow scotch tape holding it together. I had the cookie in a tin from a couple years ago and then was looking at the book for another still life shot I had in mind when I opened it and saw the story and knew I had to put the two together. The gold tabletop tree was an additional element for interest.

The book is The Wonder-Story Books "I Know a Story" 1938.

Now 10 years later, that single day and the two years it took me to edit the images and write the stories in that book, I realize it continues to impact me. It's given me a new appreciation of our country's history and what it took for our pioneers, my ancestors, to forge what we now enjoy and many times undervalue. While it took me most of my life to appreciate these things, reflection...
