Description
The original photograph I shot February 14, 2005, capturing a very dry landscape on the Chisholm Trail, south of Duncan, Oklahoma. The sky was hazy filled with smoke from a wildfire and I loved seeing the old windmill on that expansive land. Fifteen years later I rediscovered the image in my files and decided to add some textures. I wanted some old book pages as the texture and to add the writing as added interest. I remembered I had this 1957 book, "We Were There on the Chisholm Trail" written by Ross McLaury Taylor (1909-1977) and illustrated by Charles Banks Wilson (August 6, 1918 – May 2, 2013). Historical consultant was Stanley Vestal (August 15, 1887 – December 25, 1957). Taylor was born in Oklahoma, and Wilson was born in Springdale, AR, then moved to Oklahoma. This is one of two versions I created. This is the lighter toned final image.
I think this would look great on either canvas or wood for a more authentic western cowboy piece of photographic art. It would also be great on a set of coffee mugs, perfect for your western home decor.

Toni, this is STUNNING. It's amazing how you did this!
Toni Hopper replied:
Thanks Shelia! Another part of the story is that Taylor, author of that book, lived in Springdale, AR, and I just happened to live there too, years after his death though. I have an ancestor whose portrait hangs in the Shiloh Museum there in Springdale. (More history).

Outstanding artistic vintage “how’d you do that” composition, lighting, shading, color and artwork! F/L voted
