Photographed on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2017, this old building sits just south of the Rock Island Depot, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, in Waurika, Oklahoma. During World War II, the trains would stop at the Depot, as they were traveling with soliders deploying or returning from the war. The community residents would bring picnic lunches and feed them on the brick platform, which is still there. I'm not sure of the exact history of this building, but I remember some of the older veterans telling me in 2003, that the legion and post were combined to help serve all those in the area.

Everyone needs a once in a lifetime experience. You know the kind. One that leaves a lasting impression and even changes how you look at life, how you look at your surroundings.
