A daily newspaper rack holds the Press-Register paper with the headline of 100 Days of Oil after the BP oil spill in 2010.
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill, on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico on the BP-operated Macondo Prospect, claimed 11 lives and devastated an economy, many of which were small individual business owners who depended on tourism revenue.
This was one of the reasons my husband and I chose to visit the Gulf Coast region, spending our vacation dollars in an area that needed them.

About Toni Hopper
Everyone needs a once in a lifetime experience. You know the kind. One that leaves a lasting impression and even changes how you look at life, how you look at your surroundings.
