Halliburton (1892-1957) known as an uncommon man according to the tribute engraved on the statue in the community in which Halliburton was headquartered for many decades. This monument was erected in 1993, as a tribute to the man who grew an empire company, which ultimately has served as the county's largest employer. Halliburton was credited with developing the oil cementing process and is also known worldwide. He was inducted posthumously into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 1957. And in 1993, he was named to the Oklahoma Aviation Hall of Fame for his contributions. He also served five years in the U.S. Navy 1910-1915 and was honorably discharged. More can be read about this man through the Oklahoma Historical Society.
This statue at Memorial Park, is on the U.S. 81 Highway that goes through Duncan. Recent community improvements have been made to the park, including a new lighted pathway, sidewalks, benches and more. The park is also the site of the annual Memorial Day ceremony.
